Overdue post: AshKaNam

Back in March, Adam and I were finally able to make it to AshKaNam Resort near...Canada! My good friend Kari is from there and her FIANCE (as of two weeks ago!), Cole, is a partial owner of the resort. So being the sweet and hospitable couple that they are, they showed us an incredible time up north. VERY up north. When it was 60 in Minneapolis, it was 34 there - but so beautiful!

We spent a lot of time playing games and just hanging out, watching our dogs play together, but the highlight of the weekend was our snowmobile trip to the waterfalls.

As the sun was shining and the weather was mild, we stopped frequently along the trails to relax
THE EVEN MORE RECENTLY ENGAGED COUPLE

The waterfalls were SO cool! The snow was melting quick that day and the water was gushing. What is it about waterfalls and flowing water that makes you want to throw things in it? Since twigs didn't stand a chance making it through the rocks, we opted for larger pieces:

THE GIRLS

THE GUYS

Neither of them made it down the falls and through the rocks in one piece. Eek!

After the falls we turn around to make our way back. Since the snow was melting so much that day, the "ice" we had to quickly skim over to get over the river/creek had turned to water. We had skipped across several flooded areas along the trail on our return putting our confidence into overdrive and us into a thrill-seeking mood. As we got back to the river crossing the gap between the snow banks had opened about 5 more feet and the water had gotten deeper. While three of us made our way across quickly in the same path we had gone before, Cole decided to go another route; resulting in:

Fortunately Adam and Cole were able to pull it up to an "island", then pull it across some mud to the bank, where Cole was able to use his spare spark plugs and reignite. Men...the things they do, but the things they can get themselves out of! Ha - I'm smiling about that sinking snowmobile as I'm writing this.

It was an awesome weekend get-away with a wonderful couple in a gorgeous setting. Thank you both for EVERYTHING, we can't wait to come back!
