Yesterday afternoon was a gloomy, rainy day. Perhaps a bit windier than normal as our 42 story building swayed above Downtown Minneapolis. We've been very busy at work with meetings and productions that nobody cared to follow the weather, until suddenly large tree branches and debris was swirling in the air outside of the 24th floor windows. Of course, first reaction is "wow, must see more", shortly followed by "we should get away from the windows". The cloud came faster and faster, tossing the debris higher and farther, windows began to shake a bit as an eerie howl grew outside. There was a tornado in Minneapolis.

Turns out the tornado touched down in South Minneapolis, just blocks away from Adam's place. Roofs were torn off, hundreds of trees were uprooted, bus stop shelters shattered and twisted. I always feared watching a tornado roll into town, leveling everything in it's path. And maybe some tornadoes do - but this seems more like a confused storm. It hit some blocks really hard and left others untouched. My walk to my car yesterday was right along the path of "devastation" (We'll say devastation for effect...). It was amazing to see that the power of the storm barely altered the sky scraping building in Minneapolis. Guess that's Minnesota tough ;).

So, while I was hanging out in our building stairwell, I will still say I was in a tornado because it just sounds a lot cooler. Also - as an added bonus, a tornado touched down in Cottage Grove too! Double booya! No damage to my parent's house though.
